Why I practice meditation:

I practice meditation because of the impact on my brain, body, and being. By practicing meditation, I have learned to stay calm in uncertainty and bring a quality of presence to my interactions. I can consistently stay in a place of choice vs. a prisoner of past conditioning. Who I am now is a result of my past practice, and who I am becoming is a result of my discipline. Meditation works!

Why I teach meditation:

I love witnessing students move from contraction to expansion in how they experience the world. You can't un-experience yourself after practicing meditation. A filter of perception alters, so we can't go back to thinking, feeling, and behaving unconsciously in the same old way ever again. A life worth living is a life well-examined one meditation at a time.

Background:

Before I found meditation I was living a very unhealthy life and at the age of 26, I got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, that moment my life changed drastically.

I didn't want this disease to take my life over, so I had to make a lot of lifestyle changes. First I discovered yoga which led me to the path of meditation. Daily practice gave me balance, discipline, love, and motivation to be a better person and it ultimately helped me bring my health back. As a meditation teacher, I want to help people connect with their minds and true selves. I myself have experienced how a daily meditation practice can change a hectic and stressful life and turn it into a calm and loving one. My meditation practice has had such a positive influence on my life, that I wish to share this experience with others!

Mwanini Makangira

Background:

The journey of self discovery for Mwanini started when she became ill with Lyme dis-ease. Living with chronic pain for five+ years, made her realize that she needed to change her lifestyle. She dedicated her time, studying Buddhist meditation techniques to better understand the connection between the body and the mind. This helped her discover how traumatic events affect the mind and often express itself as physical pain and illnesses. The path required a lot of discipline, self-love, and forgiveness of the self which ultimately lead to her healing. Meditation has helped her understand the language of her body, and she now helps others do the same! Her meditations are centered around the connection between body and mind. Helping you understand how the energy in your body flows and how changing your thoughts can relieve you from the stress and tension your body unconsciously holds onto. With Meditations on Self Love, Positive Affirmations and Body Scans, you will come to learn the source of your troubles, mentally and physically.

Natalie Valle

Background:

Natalie is a meditation teacher, sound healer, Reiki practitioner, and yoga teacher. Her journey has led her to uncover healing modalities that have transformed her life in every aspect, from my mindset, relationship with her body, relationships with friends and family, and connection with the Universe . 

She's battled the darkness that stems from the human condition (depression, anxiety, and eating disorders), and through meditation, journaling, and reflection, have found her way back to the light. 

Through it all, she learned the beauty and art of loving herself, how to heal from negative patterns, and truly manifest the life of her dreams- and it is her soul mission to help others find their way there too.

Her background includes certifications in Sound Healing training through Soundology, Meditation, Yoga (RYT 200), Reiki, NLP, Positive Mindset Coaching.

Working with her you can expect a healing experience that will help you transmute any negative patterns that are holding you back from feeling light, aligned, and empowered. Using sound and meditation, along with other modalities such as, but not limited to, sound healing, and reiki which have helped her along my own journey, she helps people create and design a program and experience that fits their unique needs and styles. 

Why I practice meditation:

Meditation is a way for me to come back to my center, my true essence of joy, and bliss. It's a way to connect to the Universe, and be reminded that it is all Divine. Through practice, I am able to transcend the human condition and raise my frequency to be aligned with bliss, peace, and serenity.

Why I teach meditation:

It is such an honor to share meditation and sound healing with people. Helping people connect with themselves, tune in with their own inner light, guidance, and purpose is the reason I do what I do.

Devon Cajuste

Background:

Devon Cajuste, a Stanford Graduate and former NFL TightEnd, has recently left the game for his new venture in being a personal trainer, energy/crystal healer, and motivational speaker. He aids people into becoming the highest version of themselves. The last 3 years of his spiritual and personal growth ran parallel with his NFL career. While bringing energy onto the field, when he was off of it, he studied healing with Crystals, Reiki, Channeling, Sound, while creating Mayanye, a book about Journeying/Meditating to help bring expansion to self. His pursuit to amplify this force in each of us gave him more fulfillment then any play on the field.

Why I practice meditation:

Meditating is where I found many of my answers for what I want to do in life. Many of the skills I have obtained have been through the practice of meditating. Asking the questions and allowing the to answers to flow, has led me to some of the most serendipitous and life changing experiences. If I didn’t meditate, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and that information can’t be bought.

Why I teach meditation:

I would like people to understand that within them lies many of the answers they seek as well as the person they would like to be. There are tools around them such as Crystals that provide the guidance, peace, love and growth they desire. They are there to enhance the greatest crystal which is you. They aid in awakening the energy that may be sleeping, amplify the parts that are amazing, and transmute the energy that isn’t needed anymore. I want people to understand that the power they hold is within reach and creating the circumstances they want can be obtained.

Kristina Joy is a Sound Therapy Practitioner, Reiki Master, Breathwork Facilitator, Meditation Guide, and certified Life Coach, with a Masters in Education. She strongly believes in the notion that when we heal ourselves, we heal the world; and she fulfills this life purpose through her gifts as a healer and teacher for the Soul.

Why I practice meditation:

I practice meditation because it saved my life many years ago and brought me out of my darkest depression.  It provides an instant, direct connection to my Higher Self, a greater connection to every being on the planet and the Universe itself.  Meditation helps me cope with the stress and anxiety of day to day life and keeps me grounded and centered; without it, I would be an imbalanced mess. This practice has brought me the amazing gifts of compassion and empathy, not only for myself, but for everyone.  I believe the greatest blessings meditation consistently gives me is a deep sense of inner peace, life-purpose, self-love, and true JOY; and to me, that is the whole point of being alive.

I teach meditation because I want to help others access for themselves all the amazing gifts meditation brings into my own life.  I strongly believe that peace worldwide starts from inside; and since my life purpose is to make this world a better place, my mission is to help as many people as I can achieve inner peace, deep healing, true happiness, an awakening of consciousness, and a sense of oneness with everyone and everything.

Josephine has dedicated her life’s work to spreading the importance of living a joyful and healthy life by revamping people's experiences with wellness.  Josephine’s multifaceted background in consulting, fitness, and nutrition gives her the unparalleled experience to support people and corporations in their quest for wellness.  Josephine expanded her expertise by learning how to incorporate stillness and silence into everyday life through the meditation teacher training at Unplug Meditation where she studied under Unplug founder, Suze Yalof Schwartz, and the renowned meditation teacher, davidji.  Josephine’s overarching passion is to help people revitalize their overall wellness from a balanced perspective by addressing body, mind, and soul.

Why I practice meditation:

I practice meditation because it gives me the opportunity to connect to the present moment and to the stillness within so I can gain clarity and cultivate peace.  By meditating daily, I am able to respond to life and its challenges from a place of mindfulness and love.  I practice meditation so that I can be the best version of myself for me, my family, my students, and for everyone with whom I interact.

I teach meditation because I am passionate about helping others cultivate their own inner sanctuaries so they can also respond to life from a place of peace and love. I love teaching meditation because I know first-hand how beneficial it is to changing one's life towards a path of positivity and possibility.  I am always ready and excited to teach others how to stress less and live more joyfully!

Shanila Sattar

Background:

Shanila is a wellness activator, women’s researcher, speaker, and the founder of AlwaysPlay based in Los Angeles. She uses ancient modalities with a modern twist to balance and connect the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual bodies. She came into the world of meditation from her own need after experiencing health and mood imbalances, and from not having proper wellness practices in place. Now, she loves to share these tools for others’ journeys as well.

Shanila grew up in Bangladesh and on the East Coast, working with groups with anxiety, stress, depression, mood imbalances, and sleep troubles. She loves to mix the science and the woo in her practice and hopes that she’s able to reach people who may feel that wellness is inaccessible to them.

Shanila has implemented several programs in the Los Angeles area through the support of several grants from the State of California to bring the art of sound baths and breathwork as emotional and mental wellness tools, hosts workshops in underserved populations, and continues her work in women’s research through partnerships with Universities.

Shanila’s sound bath classes are described as dreamy and otherworldly; her breathwork workshops have been described as a “must experience gift". 

Why I practice meditation:

I practice meditation because through it, I am able to access and maintain a calmer sense of being. I’m able to gain perspective of things that may have been sources of worry or anxiety, and transmute that energy into feeling calm, relaxed, blissful, and joy!

Why I teach meditation:

I teach meditation because I believe that having small practical mindfulness tools in our wellness bag is a better world for everyone. I love to create safe and inviting spaces so that the pretenses of who can and should meditate are removed. Helping people simply relax in the midst of a very busy world is beautiful.
