Adrian Ensor

Background:

Adrian is a handpan player, builder and founder of Oasis Sound Sculpture here in Los Angeles. Since first seeing the instrument in 2014, Adrian has been captivated by its unique sound and meditative qualities. Such a powerful and penetrating medium Adrian was able to finally start his collection of instruments in 2016 and immersed himself in playing, and then began building this magical instrument in 2018.

As a builder, Adrian has recognized its hypnotic quality lies in the fact that we are hearing sacred geometry in the sound of each note. As music was always such a large part of his life growing up from song writing to djing, Adrian has realized the handpan opens the door to stillness and presence like nothing else he has encountered.

As a performer and teacher, Adrian aims to create a space where everyone can experience the transformative power of music. Join Adrian in his class to explore relaxation and creativity through the handpan.

Alexi May

ABOUT ALEXI MAY:

Dedicated to holistic wellness, Alexi May guides individuals toward inner harmony through sound healing, yoga, and meditation. Her approach emphasizes empowerment and joy, fostering mindful practices for a balanced life. As a wellness leader, she specializes in guiding individuals toward holistic well-being through the transformative power of loving awareness. Alexi believes in the profound impact of joyful practices, creating spaces where individuals can connect with their authentic selves. This sense of vitality impacts the world around us, helping create a new paradigm rooted in oneness, peace, and health.

WHY I PRACTICE MEDITATE :

Alexi found deep healing through sound healing and Kundalini yoga. Meditation provides space to feel, process, and transform emotions and thought patterns. This liminal space allows an alchemical process to unfold, relaxing into expanded states of awareness. Alexi believes in the power of "pause" - taking a breath before we respond to stressful situations. This is where the real practice begins: in our ability to weave the meditation practice into our daily life. Alexi now approaches meditation through a constant practice of awareness and conscious choices, rooted in unconditional love.

WHY I TEACH MEDITATION:

Profoundly inspired by the healing powers of sound, Alexi was moved to learn all that she could about the art and science of sound healing and yoga. Neuroscience and music theory encompass Alexi's extensive knowledge through multidisciplinary studies. When her mother's doctor told her she had to have spinal surgery to fix an impinged nerve, she asked Alexi to practice yoga and sound healing with her, to attempt to heal in a holistic way. This method ended up working, and she did not have to have the surgery anymore. This is what opened Alexi's eyes to the profound power of holistic healing, especially seeing it work on a physical level. From there, Alexi dove into studies, multiple trainings, and began teaching others. Alexi's mission is to provide safe space to feel seen, heard, and sacred.

Sam Eldred

Background:

Sam is a musician, builder, and humanist. As a young man, he looked up to farmers, builders, and other craftsmen, and he apprenticed with mentors he met traveling far from his hometown in rural Wisconsin. Through working in agriculture, carpentry, and most recently building handpans, his admiration of quality craftsmanship has only deepened. He brings this striving for what makes something good to his music — experimenting, seeking novel expression in an ancient art form, and developing his own sound.

After devoting much of his youth to training in orchestral percussion, marching drumline, and jazz drumkit, Sam branched out into an exploration of music and instruments from around the world. When he encountered the handpan, it opened up both a deep familiarity and a refreshing newness within him. It quickly became his preferred instrument, and he has spent a decade immersed in its sounds. His music is a means of reflecting upon themes he is fascinated with and inspired by. Cycles within nature and our individual lives. What brings us together and what divides us. The juxtaposition of simplicity and complexity, of fragility and resilience, of life on Earth.

Sam approaches both music and meditation from a spirit of curiosity, a belief in possibility, and a commitment to exploration. His Music + Meditation classes are an invitation for you to show up as you are, to listen, and to rest.
